15th Sept. 2022 - Namibia

Time simply gets a new meaning in Namibia. Distance also gets a new meaning (mentioned before!) Last but not least, silence gets a new meaning. As distances are huge in namibia, driving from A to B through "nothing", other than amazing landscapes, takes a lot of time and as there is "nothing" in between A & B, other than amazing views, there is silence often around you.
Where we are used to "distractions" on the road in Thailand and The netherlands, Namibia does not have any of those. It is wonderfully calming! We are in general much happier with far less, accustomed to the new perspectives on time, distance and silence. In short, we are far less distracted, more at ease and capable of being "bored".
Elke is reading like crazy now after struggling a bit in the first weeks with lengthy road trips. Mijke has always been good at finding creative things to do though now needs less projects (read wool, paper & pencils) to stay occupied. The e-reader and downloaded music works a charm! Remke enjoys reading a book, spends a lot of time helping the girls with home(road)work and plots new routes and plans for the days that lie ahead. Joost joins Remke in that and potters around camp and at dusk and dawn plays with his toys, such as the camera and the drone to picture the adventure we are living. Birds seems to caught his attention and he follows them for close up shots.
The roads are getting dustier (hardly possible) and the air is getting quickly hotter. The afternoons are getting slower and the mornings earlier. We are slowly edging towards game drive territory and it is changing our daily rhythm. Etosha NP is only 3 nights away.
