Upside Down - "the way of my youngest daughter"

It is Saturday, just after coffee time, she is hiding, waiting quietly ..... for the right moment ...... to jump her dad and scare him. "Ha ha, I got you dad!" , "come play with me, play with me!" , "don't be a bore!"

This is a very common situation in the Langendonck's household when Elke is getting ancy! Sooooo much energy, and soooo in need of someone to play with her. Before we know it, we are rolling over the couch and floor, chasing each other through the living room like juvenile cats learning to play and fight, until the tickling triggers someones blatter, and Elke is screaming like a laughing hyena to make it stop. "please, please, please, stop it now, I am about to ..... my pants!"

However, things change, and change is fun, challenging and not to forget often sudden and surprising. I have observed Elke for almost 12 years and rightly or wrongly, have made assumptions to who she is, what she likes and how she tick's. It is wonderfully refreshing to be surprised by your child(ren), when with time, they have moved forward, unlocking some secret vaults, that seemed non existing or to the minimum, amazingly well concealed like a century old pirate treasure buried on a long deserted tropical beach.

The last few days, my playful and highly bouncy little cat was increasingly uninterested to play with dad a game of uncontrolled tail tag! Something else took my place, something I have tried to push for quite some time!!! Now that it has arrived, the change is apparent and immense, fun and amazing, one could say, it is remarkable.

Elke is still found upside down on beds, couches and chairs, though, not so bouncy anymore? What changed? Well......Elke met Harry !!, and quickly went from dark dungeouns of Azkaban to the shiny and mysterious Goblet of Fire in a matter of very little time. Time that seemed to be standing still, as she was frozen behind her book with BIG locked eyes, focusing on letters, sentences, paragraphs, pages, focusing on chapter after chapters for hours on end.

It has been a momentous change, Elke has embraced the power of stories!

Thank you Harry and long live curiosity!
